Burnt Sienna is a Series 1 semi-transparent color. It has a masstone of deep reddish brown, with a reddish brown undertone. This semi-transparent pigment which from the present deposit is more neutral than the original deposit near Siena. Synthetic trans red oxide is closer to the old color.
